Mr. Dudley Thambinayagam founded the Jupiter Group in 1975, beginning his career at 21 by assisting his father, Mr. A.J. Thambinayagam, in the family business, A.J. Thambinayagam & Co.

A.J Thambinayagam & Co. were regular participants in National Paper Corporation tenders. Over the years they built a reputed list of paper suppliers. They were also sole representatives for Morjon Canned Mackerel products from the 1950s through to the 1970s. Morjon is an internationally reputed brand that was established 80 years ago, possessing a world-class distribution network, originated by Connell Bros Co. and Wilbur Ellis Co. of San Francisco. Mr. A.J Thambinayagam passed away in 1975. The government’s liberalized policy introduced in 1977 was a stepping-stone to the company’s growth in the paper industry. Now, spanning four decades and three generations, with multiple offices and associate offices across the globe, the Jupiter Group is a leading supplier and distributor of paper, paperboard, fine paper, publication paper, packaging paper and board and waste paper products in South Asia. Our History of Growth and Excellence

Belonging to the Counts Avanzo of Cordenons from 1630, it became property of the Galvani family, well known local entrepreneurs, in 1730. The citations by the Senate of Doges about the importance of the “Cartera de Cordenon”, the Venetian Republic official paper supplier, date back to that period.

Since 1984 the paper factory, completely renovated in its structures, is under the direction of the Gilberti family, continuing its orientation towards the production of high quality special paper.

PRE JUPITER TRADING

1960

AJ Thambinayagam & Co. was founded. They were a regular participant in National Paper Corporation tenders and sole representatives of Morjon Canned Mackerel products.

1967

Dudley Thambinayagam joined his father’s business, AJ Thambinayagam & Co.

1970

They started work with their first major partners, Hatori Paper and Board Ltd in the paper industry after ‘EXPO 70’ in Osaka Japan.

1975

After his father passed, Dudley Thambinayagam acquired a store on Bristol Street in Fort Colombo and Jupiter Trading was established.

1977

The Government’s new liberalized policy allowed Jupiter Trading to start importing and trading Paper products in Sri Lanka.

1978

Partnered with T.H Brunius & Co selling Mondi Paper and Board.

1979

Jupiter Trading moved to Grandpas Colombo and started offset printing under PRRINMAN, trading paper and board and exporting coir products.

1984

Partnered with Central National Gottesman, USA.

1988

Partnered with Asia Pulp & Paper Indonesia, the largest paper mill in the world.

1990

Jupiter Agencies was founded.

1991

Partnered with JK Papers, India.

1992

Partnered with Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers, Chennai.

1995

Opened an office in Chennai, India.

1998

Started waste paper sales in south India.

2002

Partnered with BILT, India.

2003

Jupiter Plantations was founded.

2004

Acquired a Polythene bag-converting factory.

2005

Started trading fine papers, through Jupiter Paper.

2008

Partnered with Waterman Pens, France.

2011

Partnered with NR Agarwal, India.

2011

Partnered with Sona Papers, UAE.

2011

Opened Jupiter Agencies LLC in New Jersey.

2015

Started sales into Bangladesh and Pakistan.

2017

Opened Hello Print for Digital Printing and Premium Stationery.

2025

Started sales into Kenya.
